Water Damage
Burst pipes, floods, and leaks spread fast. We extract the water, dry the structure to the cavity, and rebuild, 24/7 across NYC and Long Island.
Overview
Water is the fastest-moving disaster a property owner faces. Within minutes it wicks into flooring, drywall, and framing, and within a day or two it turns into mold. All Star Restoration answers around the clock, gets a crew moving, and stops the spread before a small leak becomes a gut renovation. From water mitigation and the first pump-out through structural drying and the final coat of paint, one certified team handles the whole job, whether the cause is a burst pipe, a roof leak, a plumbing leak, an appliance failure, or a failed sump pump. If insurance is involved, see how we handle water damage insurance claims.
The Clock
The single biggest factor in a water loss is how fast someone starts drying it. Here is roughly what happens when water sits:
That timeline is the whole argument for calling right away, even for a leak that looks minor. Getting equipment in during the first day is often the difference between drying your floor and replacing it.
Restoration grades water in three categories, and it changes how a job is handled. Category 1 is clean water from a supply line or overflowing tub. Category 2 ("gray water") carries some contamination, like a dishwasher or washing-machine discharge. Category 3 ("black water") is grossly contaminated, sewage and flood water, and has to be treated as a biohazard. We assess the category first, because it decides what can be dried and saved versus what has to be removed.
The most common water-damage mistake is stopping too early. A floor can feel dry on top while the subfloor, the wall cavity behind the baseboard, and the framing underneath are still wet, and that hidden moisture is exactly what turns into mold weeks later. Our process is built around finding and removing that moisture:
Where does water hide? Under hardwood and tile, inside wall cavities, behind baseboards and cabinets, in insulation, and in the subfloor. Finding it is the part that separates a proper dry-out from a callback in a month.
